The SBS Method

The Steps Between the Steps

Most programs teach you the big steps: the insight, the breakthrough, the vision of who you could be. SBS teaches what happens in between. What you actually do, in your body, in the moment.

Transformation doesn’t usually happen in one enormous, cinematic moment. It happens in the moments that follow:

  • What do I do when I’m triggered?
  • What do I do when I’m afraid?
  • What do I do when my body wants to react the way it always has?
  • How do I stay with myself instead of abandoning myself?
  • How do I practice becoming the person I now know I can be?

Those are the steps between the steps.

The principles

Five things I’ll teach your nervous system.

1 · Patterns, not personality

The ways you react, cope, shrink, control, and survive are not who you are. They are patterns your nervous system learned. And patterns can change.

2 · Insight alone doesn’t change you

The body can keep responding to an old experience long after the mind understands it. Knowing better is the start, not the finish.

3 · The body leads the way

Change is physical. When you learn to recognize your stress response and regulate it, the mind and body begin to change together.

4 · Tiny bridges, not giant leaps

Small, intentional somatic experiences repeatedly show your body something different: you are safe here, you can soften here.

5 · A tool for the moment

Every practice is built to be used when life is actually happening. Simple enough to reach for mid-trigger, not three hours later.

“I want the people I work with to have more than an insight. I want them to leave with something they can do.”

Amie Davidson, creator of SBS

How it’s taught

Six weeks, one on one.

I teach SBS one way: privately, in person, over six weeks. Every toolkit is built around your specific patterns.

  • Week by weekMap your patterns, understand your nervous system, then build and practice your personal tools.
  • Between sessionsSmall daily practices, the actual steps between the steps, where the rewiring happens.
  • By the endA regulated baseline, a stronger voice, and a different response when the old moment arrives.
